Once more, Thor, Reo dog, and I seized the day for a perfect end of summer bike ride and swim at nearby Lake Whatcom.
After another challenging health year, things are looking up and strength returning, and I’m very happy to get on my bike again for some easy rides. This week, we had the perfect sunny day for a ride along the Hertz Trail at the end of nearby Lake Whatcom, and I made it to the 2.5 mile mark for our favorite picnic and swimming spot.
A beautiful young madrona tree thrives at the shore.

The water was wonderful — just brisk enough to wake up every cell in our bodies. “I’m alive!”

The water reflects the beautiful greenery.

It’s like swimming through liquid emerald as I dive underwater and hope the resident river otters might join me to frolic. (Maybe another day.)

We like to walk a bit farther under the big, mossy maple trees, firs, and cedars that climb the steep slope above the lake.

So grateful for the healing power of nature in our beautiful Pacific Northwest! Thanks for joining us.
