The Rambling Writer’s Upcoming Interview with The International Pulpwood Queens Book Club

I was excited and honored when my seriocomic novel of midlife reinvention PAUSE was chosen as a December 2022 selection by The International Pulpwood Queens and Timber Guys Book Club, the biggest book club in the world! Founder and Queen Kathy L. Murphy will interview me via Zoom on December 20 at 7:00 CST (5:00 my Pacific time zone). Here’s the link for the Zoom meeting, so please join us!

(My interview feature should appear at the top of the calendar under “Conversations with the Author” by Monday, but if not, the Zoom link should still work.)

Kathy L. Murphy has been a tireless advocate for authors for decades, and her book club gatherings and annual “girlfriend weekends” are known for lots of energy and fun, in addition to serious book discussions.

My novel Pause, First Place winner in the Chanticleer Somerset Awards, follows the journey of Lindsey Friedland as she navigates the trials of midlife, including divorce from an abuser, recovery from cancer, family and work crises, and absurd attempts at dating – not to mention epic hot flashes. The germ of the novel was my own midlife transition diary, in which I found that humor lightened my load. I drew from some of my own experiences, as well as stories from my sisters and friends, to create Lindsey’s fictional journey.

“Dear Diary, I’m tired of being tragic….”

In this photo with Thor’s and my wonder dog Bear, I was celebrating the publication of PAUSE as I also took a hike in the mountains to celebrate two months post-surgery for lung cancer. (FYI I never smoked.) Two years later, I’m continuing my healthy recovery and working on a new novel, so stay tuned!

Since I’m more comfortable hiking the mountains or snorkeling the seas than dressing up, I was a bit uncertain about the “requirement” to wear a tiara during book club meetings when I first joined the club a few years ago, but I’m adjusting. Join Kathy and me for some fun in our Zoom interview!
